Hey ed I know you are good at computers so looking for help lol as I know nothing.

Looking for a laptop to play football manager primarily so don't need a big fancy one .

What would be better an I3 processor with an hdd or Pentium processor with ssd?
Thanks

Cee

{Ed001's Note - I3 I would say, though the SSD would make it quicker booting up etc, playing the game would take forever to process each gaming week using a pentium. At least so I have been told by someone I know who works for Sega. They recommend a minimum of I3.}

Ryzen 3 processors are worth a shout too. Honestly with cheap systems I'm not sure an SSD is going to make that huge of a difference. It's really easy to install your own SSD if you decide you have to have one, and with Black Friday coming, you could get one cheap. I would recommend getting a Ryzen 3 or i3 if it's just for FM. You can often find good deals on laptops with cheap dedicated GPUs that wouldn't be too much more expensive, and make the world of difference.

Just seen that there is a game(crusader kings2) that has a game of thrones mod(huge fan) and it makes me want to get it but my laptop is a piece of ****, would a MacBook be any good for something like this? The only other computer game I play is fm but you can get away with that on a normal laptop but I am not sure about a game like this.

Cee

{Ed001's Note - Crusader Kings is from Paradox games, trust me, unless you are an addict you are unprepared for their games. You need to devote hours to them, and really really delve deep. They are amongst the most complex games I have ever tried to play. I love history and so picked up a pack of their games for peanuts in a Steam sale. People rave about how good they are, but you really do need to devote hours getting into them to get anything out of them. I have never had the time to devote to them to really get into any one of them, to the point of even understanding what was going on. I am quite sure pretty much any lappy would run them, they are not graphics intensive at all, but be warned, Crusader Kings 2 is in no way an easy game to play. It is almost full scale political machinations via a computer, as you try to put together a bloodline to rule.}

Cheers for the reply ed, I've seen a lot of the videos on YouTube and it looks class, but yeah I could imagine spending hours on it I am bad enough on football manager lol

{Ed001's Note - it makes FM look simple mate. It takes hours just to understand the basics. I use the term understand loosely as there is just so much to it that you will need to be absolutely immersed in it or it will just overwhelm you. If you like that type of thing, then Paradox make the best games of the type by far.}

Civilisation 5 has a game of thrones mod on it

I love Civ 5, one of my favourite games ever.

Have to agree. Civilization is a great game; it's only downfall is that it's hard to get people to play it as most games take 2-3 hours to complete.

As for the MacBook question, I have a MacBook Pro, and it is great for a lot of things, but if you're a hardcore gamer, steer well clear of Mac. So many games aren't even compatible for Mac. I don't know how the desktops operate so I can't help you there.

(Most laptops in general aren't good for gaming.)

James taverniers a beast in it ed007 ;)

Cee

{Ed007's Note - I thought the game was meant to be realistic? You need to have ambition in any FM game so I won't be signing players from the lower/junior leagues of Scotland.}

Been a while since I played it but really enjoyed the storyline, maybe because it was different from the rest seeing as you were a pirate lol. The free running and combat is akward in ac games.

Cee

{Ed001's Note - the free running and combat is the game though, they should have fixed that by now, it has been going long enough.}

Thought black flag was an excellent game got syndicate the other day but haven't played it yet, if they did make it more of a rpg it would be amazing

Cee

{Ed001's Note - you really liked Black Flag as a game? I thought the game play was terrible, like all AC games, the storyline is the only worthwhile bit. Actually playing it through is not good, especially the free running and stuff, it just doesn't feel right to me on a console controller.}
