Anyone on here tried H1Z1 on PS4? Been playing it for a few weeks now and I must say it's brilliant! The servers have been improving every week and the games running nice and smooth atm. Much more competitive than fortnite imo

Are you playing it on the pro Caolan? Apparently it runs far better on it. I played it when it came out on the regular ps4 and it was a bit of a mess but if they’ve improved it I’ll happily try it again.

Apparently it runs far better on ps4 pro giving pro players the advantage. I gave it a shot again in duos last night but it’s just not for me. It’s certainly better now than at was at launch but it’s too clunky and feels closer to a really good iOS game in comparison to fortnite which has been in development for a fraction of the time. The looting is disappointing with less than ten items to pick up and end game is always 5 cars and me. The fact that they promote the cars by showing them on the map irks me as well. I think right about now, if pubg jumped to ps4 it would kill H1z1 because as much as that game frustrates with glitches and issues, it’s far more enjoyable. One thing they could do is restrict the ridiculous amount of crate drops and instead drop said loot around the place in houses etc, it’s a big map, would be nice to have a reason to explore it. I dearly wanted to love this game but I just can’t.

I suppose it does come down to preference. Last night playing with my mates we were saying that whilst we love fortnite, you have to be able to build like crazy, as if you don’t you will not stand a chance. I enjoy H1 because I feel like you can play it in different ways, and feel like the loot crates promote action as you realistically need them to get the win.
Fortnite is definitely smoother and looks a much better game, although I’m enjoying the change playing H1, without the building to worry about I’m doing much better with regards to kills etc.

You are spot on about the building. I hate it too mate. Also getting tired of cartoony graphics. If you like H1z1 and have a decent pc, do check out pubg. Or if you have an xbone there’s a rough version as well.

You know, I am yet to see why these "battle royal" games are so popular. They're not good games as it were, they have poor shooting mechanics, they have limited movement animations, the controls are clunky at best and the gameplay can be tedious and monotonous. Then if you look at the broken side of things, like the bugs, the updates which aren't wanted/needed, the toxicity of the majority of the players(same in most games).
There is nothing new about this genre of game, nothing unique and nothing innovative. I just don't get why these games are so popular.

Hsf for me the only two games I’ve ever gotten so invested into where fortnite and H1, getting towards the end and being the last person standing makes the heart rate go through the roof and the joy of winning is crazy! Well that’s for me anyway!

You say the joy of winning is crazy but then what happens, you just start again with nothing and can be the first shot in the next round, there's no long term enjoyment in that for me.}

I only tend to play with my mates in them, I don’t really do to much by myself. I find it’s a good way to have craic sometimes more than a game with objectives etc. I think it’s because they’re new!

i love the battle royale concept, and let me share why, i no longer am capable of investing time into rpg despite it being one of my favourite type of game. the last game i truly finished was final fantasy 7. i loved skyrim to bits bt till this day i never manage to finish it, not even the main story, there are just too many games out there and i realise that i can no longer invest my time into rpgs, hence i occasionally watch people play it, just to understand the story and tbh, i'm happy just with that.
but pubg, realm royale provides a platform where i can game with friends without worrying about progression, as it repeats from 0 every single game. and while i do win sometimes, honestly the joy has been in games when we lose. of course, we are not pros and are just looking for some fun.
when i played world of warcraft, destiny, i needed my friends to be on par to go for dungeons together, raids. so even when everyone is online, is wasnt easy to play together. bt now that all of us barely have time to game, fifa and battle royale provide the right gaming concept for people like me.
its an easy game to just log in and get straight to the action, it is part of the reason why it is so popular, it attracts a lot more people. as good as skyrim is as an rpg, your general gamer out there simply will not pick it up for an hours fun as compared to say, even counter strike.
just my opinion.

Tell me you saw what they’re doing with assassins creed ed7. It looks absolutely amazing. They’re changing it to an rpg with relationships and massive npc battles. Apparently with BioWare messing around with the uninspiring destiny rip off, Ubisoft are pushing to plug the hole left by their absence.

Most of the guys who made BioWare what they were are long gone including drew Karpaschan (or something like that) who wrote all their memorable games and is probably the finest game writer ever. He wrote KOTOR, jade empire, mass effect 1 and 2 and much of the mmo old republic series. Like you say, it’s only a matter of time before they close down the studio

{Ed007's Note - To be honest I never gave it much of a go buddy, I only bought it because the Mrs fancied it. FIFA is doing my nut in as usual, I do those weekly squad challenge things and have consistently Gold 1 and managed Elite 3 a couple of times, online I'm in Division 6 but struggling to get out of it.
They seriously need to sort out the match making side of it, my team's are both 86 rated so what chance have I got against guys with 90 + God squads as somone called them? You watch guys on streams on Twitch etc and all they do is moan about the gameplay or kick-off or the AI but it's all bollocks, it's down to you and I know that so even though I regularly 'get tilted' (see I'm even picking up the hipster lingo). I seen Kurt walking out on that tournament because of KO goals and although I can see his point when there's £ involved he knew it was there and could have done the same.
I still really enjoy playing the game.....
Which brings me to the World Cup mode..... it's $HITE!!! 100% absolute dog poo!!!! I played it for 2 days, was all excited when I packed Messi, Ronaldo and some other top players until I played the actual game, wtf is that all about? It's a totally different game to FUT or that and pretty poor from EA imo plus I was thinking why sit and grind at this for months for it to die off after the WC with hee haw to show for it so I'm just sticking with FUT.
We'll need to get some more games sorted out, Caolan and try and get more people involved, it's pretty sad that we can't get some sort of FIFA league for both machines from all the sites.}

There is 100% some kind of AI scripting or something going on in the game Ed007. Even in career mode, where teams like Manchester City and Barcelona are just easy pickings, but Bolton in the FA cup are godlike.
Also, since Leicester won the league you always have some small club in or around the top 4. I think in my last career save, Bournmouth finished in the top 4 for 3 seasons running? Didn't even buy any really good players either, just carried on buying their usual £10m signings.

Ive often toyed with the idea of trying pes, but all my mates have Fifa. We definitely need a league going for people from the sites, one game a week and have it like the premier league! Our own table would be amazing. Maybe when Fifa 19 comes out we could set it up?
Also ed you’ll probably find fut much easier in Fifa 19 if you get it when it comes out as you’ll be on an even footing with everyone else (unless you buy packs etc)
{Ed007's Note - Surely we can get 20 PS4 and 20 XBox users to give us a 38 game season out of all the sites, oh and maybe PC gamers too. I've no problem doing the admin side of it, keeping records etc but we'd need to make sure that people would see it through to the end and not chuck it after 6 games because they're bottom of the league.
Although the finances are a bit strained just now and with RDR 2 and AC:Odyssey both coming out around the same time it'll be a struggle but I'm planning on saving my pennies and buying the most expensive version of FIFA 19 so that I get some good packs to open but I won't be spending any more money on points or that.
If anyone else is interested in joining a league - on any machine - then let me know, we'll try and get people from the sites first and then if we're struggling you can ask mates (if you've got any) or family.

If you're looking for something you can get lost in and lose hundreds of hours, then there is ARK:Survival Evolved.
If you're looking for some animated macho fun then there is GTA V.
If you want some casual fun on something that's different, there is Rocket League.
{Ed001's Note - I think GTA V and Rocket League are awful games personally. I will have to take a look at ARK though, Ed004 recommended that to me.}

Look at this- a thread without aoe writing all over it. Hold my beer- It all depends what you are in to caolan. Fallout 4 is really great for whiling away the hours. Especially if you are in to base building. Sorry hsf- going to disagree on ark- oh that game has broken my heart. I keep going back to it every update because I want it to work so badly but it’s just god awful on consoles. Maybe in a year or two they’ll sort out the issues. I’ve seen so many streams on pc and I look at the half assed job and cry a little with jealousy- you can’t even host a private game for a couple small players. Love gta 5 though. It may not be everyone’s taste ed but I don’t think gta 5 is awful. In fact, I think it’s one of the best games ever made. Graphically it’s outstanding, campaign is incredibly long and rewarding which is so rare these days and it’s online is phenomenal with terrific support from rock star. Each to their own. My own suggestion would be planetside 2. Free to play with zero push on aesthetic purchases, massive map with hundreds of players at a busy time and great shooting mechanics. Haven’t played in a while but one of the top shooters out there

Can anyone give me any tips for playing solo on fortnite? When I play in squads I usually do a lot better, think it's down to communicating with mates. How does one transfer this to the solo mode?

I’ve won a fair few solo games on it and I’m no legend at FPS games. It’s a totally different beast on solo to multiplayer, mostly it’s about enjoying the last few engagements instead of allowing the nerves to get the better of you. A few tips you might find useful- it galls me to suggest this and it’s actually something I rarely do but once you take fire, just build a wall. Build a ramp and build it swiftly. 90% of the time you will last long enough to either run away or get some healing or just simply find out who’s shooting you. Always creep. You’ll get there far later but no one will hear you on the way. Also, if your in a one on one, get good at jumping and shooting, it’s another tactic I hate but it’s kept me alive many a time. They constantly nerf and buff different weapons so unfortunately that green auto shotgun may be lethal one week and the next week it’s as effective as the sub machine gun. Never use the sub machine gun. If your going to snipe, expect a good kill rate but someone is going to hear you and snake up behind you. In the final two, don’t accidentally dance. Avoid busy bus drops. Glide as late and as far as you can from the bus route and just run in late with the cloud of death, looting where possible. You’ll get caught out many a time but sometimes the circle will fav our you completely and you’ll have plenty time to loot. Use bushes to camp (it’s a legitimate strategy) but don’t use the mobile camaflague bush, it doesn’t do a thing except draw unwanted attention. Don’t over loot- if you have a decent shotgun, full health, full shield and a spare med pack/shield juice and a rifle you like, you are ready to sneak into the final 5. AT THE END In the last few circles unless you are building, find a nice spot to hide and try see where the other few are. Avoid looting anyone who gets killed around you as the inevitable sniper in their built tower will annihilate you but if you do need that golden scar, loot and move back and forwards so a player can’t pick you off too easily. Try to stay hidden and let them kill each other until it’s down to just two. Hopefully the zone will be kind and if it’s not, move early. Last bit of advice, if you are continually finishing in the top 5/3 you are doing it right. You’ll only need a smidgen of luck to get the win. Whenever it comes. This in only one slow way to play, if you want to go loud that’s something else entirely. Really hope this has helped. Best of luck. Hope you get that elusive first win.

You are doing it right. A little bit of luck is all you need. Try sneaking in under the builds if they are a tower in the last 3 or 4 and a few grenades or pick axes to its base will serve you well. Even if there are other players, they’ll likely leave you to it until you take the tower down. (Most of the tine)

Has anyone played the new uncharted game that came out? Ordered in the Black Friday sales and was wondering if others have played it and what they think of it?
{Ed007's Note - If you liked the original games you'll enjoy it. I've not finished it because of games that have came out since. The whole series are the type of games my Mrs likes watching me play so I know I'll go back to it at some point.
I actually per ordered it because we loved the original games, I got a loan of the trilogy set thing and me and her loved playing thriugh them one after the other. A brilliant series of games and the Lost Legacy is a worthy spin off even if it could be a Tomb Raider game.}

The uncharted series is my favourite game series off all time. If I’m ever bored I tend to pick one and go back and play it again, really gutted there will be no more Nathan Drake! Looking forward to playing the lost legacy, hoping it’s a long game!

I was a fan of the last of us ed, very curious to see how the second will play out now after the ending. Yes I agree on Drake, perhaps they are saying this is the end to give themselves more time to work on it in private to make it even better? Who knows!!

I enjoyed it, but wasn’t anywhere near as hooked as I was with the uncharted series. It always felt like it lacked a little bit of direction, it would perhaps be better as an open world game?
On a side note is there any games you would recommend trying for the PS4? Big fan of action and adventure games!

The only assassins creed I actually completed was the first one with Ezio! I really enjoyed it, but just never got many of the others!
{Ed007's Note - You should definitely give them a blast then, either go for one of the older/cheaper ones - I'd recommend Black Flag if you're going to do that - or get Origins and fall head over heels in love with the series and work back through the series from there.}

It did for the last two years so now I’m trying to claw it back 😂. 10,000 words on the topic of euthanasia has a draining effect! Still keeping the weekend free for gaming, mainly been playing fut champs in Fifa, yet each weekend is sky myself why!
{Ed007's Note - Throw FIFA in the bin and explore the loads of great games that are out there, you'll get bargains on pre-owned games. I bought FIFA 17 a couple of months ago coz it was cheap in the PS Store as a download and I was playing it every minute I could to the point of giving myself trigger finger in my thumb! It's only since AC Origins and Star Wars 2 came out I've kicked FIFA and I argue with myself if I should buy 18, I've resisted.... so far.
At least you've picked a nice cheery subject to write about, you should have done it on the AC games, I could batter out more than 10, 000 words easy for you about that and guarantee you an A+ on it}

Ed 007 just started playing the lost legacy. Must say, feels just the same as the others (which is a good thing!!). Also looking to get into the assassins creed games, do you know if any of the originals have been remastered for PS4?
{Ed007's Note - You want The Ezio Collection which is remastered versions of Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations which you should be able to pick up for about £20 now and is well worth it.

The journey isn’t great ed, the reason I’m not a fan was down to the fact you don’t have much control off it. Bar playing the matches, they make you leave your club etc especially when I didn’t want too!!

FIFA 17 is the first of them I've bought in years so I was pretty impressed with it but do they change them enough to warrant a new one every year - and at those prices - or is just another way to get cash from kids for the game and then the FUT stuff that they spent a fortune on last year and is all useless in the newest versions?}

They made a lot of changes at the start of the game and it played well. However, after a few updates it’s returned to the same standard. Basic things like not being able to stop your opponent score from kickoff, the same BS goals get conceded. It’s just a money making machine for ea and only a tiny minority actually want change so why would they stop when the majority keep buying and throwing their money into it.

That scoring straight from K.O was a pain in the arse and the same move of cutting in and passing it across the goal for a tap in was doing my box in. There's some amount of wee ***** out there that just do/try the same thing over and over - and what's with the total cretins that don't do anything and you can't quit or you'll lose!

It’s just a very poorly thought out game, after all they want it to be an esport!! Don’t get me started on the fut champs lay out, 40 games in a weekend? That’s ridiculous!!! Some pro players have quit due to the stress of playing it. Bad sign when people have to put a game down and stop playing due to mental health.
{Ed007's Note - There's a video games/e-sports channel on Virgin cable called GiNX that showed a FIFA 17 competition where the winner won £250k a couple of months ago and a few of the players were actually employed by clubs to play FIFA for them which all shows how serious some people take e-sports.
I didn't know they were playing 40 games a weekend which you could probably do sitting in the house but when you're under pressure by your 'bosses' and sponsors to win and playing in front of the live audience and TV viewers would be pretty daunting for the young lads doing it so there's no surprise that it grinds some of them down.}

{Ed007's Note - Definitely! Back in the day I wanted to leave school and work for a video/computer games magazine but realistically it was never going to happen. Back then that was the closest you could get to getting paid for playing games unless you were working for a games company - I ended up an engineer after doing my HND in Computer Science, work that one out! :(

Still sounds fairly impressive ed!!! Must say that the lost legacy was fantastic, 9 chapters so not as long as the others. But very good game, great plot and a good ending! It felt just like any uncharted game, but didn’t feel like I missed Nathan Drake!!
{Ed007's Note - Nah take my advice kidder, stick well in at Uni and get a job you enjoy doing AND that you come home clean at the end of the day. In saying that, you wouldn't have The Angel of the North, The Dublin Spire, The Armadillo in Glasgow and a few other landmarks without my unique skills at steel bending :)
I didn't know Legacy was as short as that, I'll need to put it on and finish it - if I can stop playing Origins that is lol

{Ed007's Note - Folk told me it for years but I never listened, now I'm older I wish I had listened and they told me I'd think that too lol I tell Ed004 the same, he's doing a Masters degree in accounting stuff so no chance he'll ever be up to his elbows in welding gloves.
If you could do Legacy in a day you must have missed out a lot of collecting/trophy stuff! My wee nephew does that, 'Aye I've completed that' but he's just charged through the game or being a lying wee shit lol
There's that much hidden stuff in games I'll admit I've never completed a game 100% when you look at my trophies but I've finished loads, does that make sense?}

Yeah I get you ed! I like to go through the game then go back to try and get everything else! I’m currently doing a law degree, busy busy year!
{Ed007's Note - I prefer collecting things while I play (even using a walkthrough if needs be) because I rarely go back to a game once I've finished the story mode unless there's still side missions or that to do.

Have to echo ED7 here, AC origins is fantastic, I kinda fell out of love with the game once Ezio left so this is my first AC since then, but everything about it is astonishing, you can tell the devs actually cared about this game, combat is much better, love the eagles, love the environoments. Also don't pick up Fifa 18 unless it comes free with a console bundle. I picked up a black Friday bundle and Fifa came with it otherwise I don't see myself paying 50 for minute improvements. It is good but it's like every Other Fifa ever when it comes out.
Also side note to Caolan keep chugging through with your diss mate! I remember the pain of doing mine last year and all i ever wanted was to just sit down with no diss and just OD on my Xbox, it'll be worth it!

I haven’t played fortnite now in about 6 weeks but if you can do private games that could be another venture for us.
{Ed007's Note - From what I've seen on Twitch you can do all sorts, build your own team with mates, play 2 v 2 etc I've hardly played and haven't even managed a kill in the bloody thing :/
